Bonaparte Elliott

Bonaparte Elliot Ostrander Preston is a law firm in the Bank of California building whose Far East focus is reflected in its office design. The office is on the top floor of the Union Bank of California building in downtown Portland. It is a 5000 SF office designed for 8 law partners and their support staff, with two conference rooms and a sky lounge. Being in the late 60’s classic modern building strongly influenced the design of the project. Some of the building’s high end finishes were also incorporated into the project.

Two large teak framed windows with translucent glass define the Reception area. The largest of the windows brings natural light into the interior space from the north side of the building, while allowing for partner offices behind it. In between the large glass walls is a sitting area that is backed by a sycamore wall, which was designed to contrast with the teak. The firm’s Pacific Rim location is also referenced by the proportioning of the glass walls and in the tone of the Reception area.  Partner offices are generously sized and feature views of the City, Rivers, and Cascade Range.
